There are two types of dial-up lines; the Public Service Telephone Network or PSTN and Integrated Service Digital Network or ISDN. PSTN is an analogue telephone service we use commonly used in homes and and some businesses today. ISDN uses digital technology instead of analog signals to send and receive calls (data and voice) across the telephone wires to your home or office. ISDN BRI lines (Basic Rate Interface) can take up the speed of up to 128kbps whereas the PSTN lines in Malaysia, can take a maximum speed of 33.6kbps (subject to line condition). You can make faster data calls using ISDN than when using PSTN.The charge for ISDN is 4 sen per minute while telecommunication charge for PSTN is 1.5 sen per minute by your telephone companies.
